The applicants, a Mr. P King and Mr. J Devine, had sought planning permission for their respective applications on the Donnybrewer Road, both of which entailed a one and a half storey replacement building.

Mr. Devine was also seeking approval for a wind turbine on the site of 21 Kee Road, which was previously vested by Derry City Council.

The proposals were brought before council’s Planning Committee on Tuesday afternoon, where there was cross party support for expediting both applications.

Speaking at the meeting, Senior Planning Officer Tony McIvor said that there were a number of road issues still outstanding, but permission would be given once those were resolved.

The SDLP’s Thomas Conway added council should support both applications going forward ‘as soon as possible’.

Meanwhile his party colleague and former Chairman of the Airport Committee, Colm Eastwood congratulated the planners on how they treated the people involved.
