A newly-formed vigilante group has vowed to execute a number of high profile drug dealers in Derry, it can be revealed today.
The group – who have identified themselves as Communities Against Drug Dealers – made their existence known to the Derry News earlier this week.
That came after this paper was supplied with a number of photos showing drugs
seized in the city by the group last week as well as a number of men armed with shotguns and pistols.
A reporter from this newspaper was then requested to attend a meeting with members of the group.
The reporter travelled to a location in the city on Monday night, before being met by a number of men.
The men then placed a hood over the reporter’s head before taking him in a van to undisclosed location where a statement was read out by the group, who then spoke at length with the reporter.
It comes after the recent emergence of Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD), who have since claimed a number of gun attacks against alleged drug dealers.
The new group claim they are separate from RAAD, yet nonetheless they ‘applaud their actions’.
A spokesperson for the group added that while they do count a number of ex-republicans among their numbers, they have no affiliation with any dissident groups.
They also claimed that they have already taken action against two men in the Waterside area last week, and had a further list of targets who, they say, will now also be dealt with.
And they stressed that after being issued a warning, the dealers would be executed.
“There will no kneecappings, no expulsions or second chances. These people will be shot dead, pure and simple.”
